Merit Awards - 7th and 8th grade

The 7th and 8th graders who received Merit Roll Awards were recently honored at a ceremony.  Principal, Mrs. Evans and Vice Principals, Ms. Groat and Mr. Natoli handed out the awards.  Pictured below are Taino (8th grade) and Alicia and Nastasia (7th graders):

 

 

Literacy initiatives...

Mrs Knapp's 7th and 8th grade ESL students wrote mystery stories (including pictures) and read them to the beginning ESL students

Parent/teacher conferences

Nov 9 and 10, during parent teacher conferences, the Student Council will be sponsoring a raffle of a gift basket for $1.00 and selling ice cream for $1.00.  The times for conferences are posted on side bar to the right.

Last Saturday was another great riding day at b.i.k.e.-Syracuse.  We had 23 children show up for breakfast at St Lucy's and a bike ride to Elmwood Park to participate in some bicycle skill games.  This weekend is our overnight camping trip at Highland Forest....wish us good weather!!

Master Planning Forum

6:30-8:30 @ Henninger on Wednesday, November 17^th – This is where we will dialogue about the state of our current schools and voicing our opinions regarding closing schools, keeping them open, or renovating them.  Please attend and voice your opinion about Blodgett.

Trojan Horses

Middle school ESL student just finished reading "The Trojan Horse"  and then built their own Trojan Horses from cardboard tubes.

The students in the 6th grade AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) class are creating power point presentations

Community Service Project

The 8th grade Home and Career Skills class created greeting cards for the patients at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center:

Congratulations to the following staff members that won a gift bag from Wal-Mart: Ms. Baggett (8^th Gr. TA), Ms.  Dowd (Speech/Language), Mr. Krause (7/8 Social Studies), Ms. Lockwood (7/8 Math), Ms. Wolfram (5^th Gr. Teacher), Mr. Zollo (1^st Gr. Teacher), Mr. Saur (K/1 TA), Ms. Davis (Main office secretary), Mr. Bova (Art teacher), and Ms. Groat (Vice Principal).  Thanks to Ms. Roach (Building substitute) and parent Melissa (Mattice) Morales for facilitating this partnership. The staff members received a goody bag full of supplies and a gift card to use for their classrooms.
